You just know success when you see it.
Granite City, IL: It doesn’t take you very long to walk onto a jobsite and determine whether or not it is successful. At Bowen, a successful job is defined as one that delights our client with safe, quality production and, most importantly, finishes with zero injuries.
On July 2, 2009, Bowen’s SunCoke project celebrated 105,000 injury free hours with a barbeque luncheon attended by representatives from SunCoke Energy, local labor union representatives and, most importantly, Bowen’s 95 craftsmen.
Bowen’s scope of work includes installing two steel silos along with all connecting ductwork and fan systems. The equipment installed by Bowen removes sulfur dioxide, mercury and other heavy metals from the air stream by using a Dry Spray Absorber System (SDA). Bowen’s ironworkers and boilermakers also assembled the filter baghouse that collects the spent lime and fly ash on site.
This is Bowen’s first project working for SunCoke Energy. “We are always looking to do business with clients whose values align with ours” commented Bowen’s Jeff Purdue. “From the time SunCoke Energy asked Bowen to propose on this project, it was clear that they were a client that is committed to a zero injury workplace. It is always a pleasure doing business with partners who share your commitment to zero.”
Bowen looks forward to future opportunities with SunCoke Energy and building on the success of this project.
